Brash Tacks is a legal blog (blawg) that comments on legal and technology topics – and especially the intersection of law and technology.

Brash Tacks is a pun on the phrase Get down to brass tacks, which means to explore the fundamental ideals or essential elements of a topic.*

Brash is taken from the first part of my surname Brashear. The word brash has many meanings, some of which are derogatory.  I hope that this blog is not “lacking restraint and discernment,”  “heedless of consequences” or “aggressively self-assertive. My goal is to provide a forum that is “full of fresh raw vitality” and “uninhibitedly energetic.”

The title has nothing whatsoever to do with this, but whatever floats your boat . . ..
